Fairfield County Man Drove Drunk In Westchester With BAC Twice Limit, Police Say

A Fairfield County man was driving with a blood alcohol content more than double the legal limit during a late-night traffic stop on I-287 in Westchester, New York State Police announced.

New York State Police troopers on patrol at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, stopped Bridgeport resident Paul Thompson, 25, on I-287 in Harrison when he committed multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

According to police, during the subsequent stop, Thompson displayed signs of being impaired, and he failed standardized field sobriety tests. Thompson was taken into custody, and at New York State Police barracks in New Rochelle, a breathalyzer determined his blood alcohol content was .18 percent, more than double the legal limit.

Thompson was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and cited for multiple vehicle and traffic violations. Thompson was released to a sober third-party and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Harrison Court on Tuesday, March 10 to respond to the DWI charge.
